Altered Images

I find using a pen to draw with liberating.

But how can that be? I hear you ask, when you are unable to correct any mistakes.

My point entirely.

It is liberating because you are unable to correct any mistakes.

You are committed.

The decision has been made.

End of.

No more ummmms and would that look better there or like that.

And doodling with a sharpie onto a printed image – a page from a magazine, offers an escape for the mind.

Escape from decisions about composition. The shapes and colours are already printed.

Escape from the pressure of getting it right. There is no right or wrong. There just is.

Escape from the pressure of spoiling a canvas or good quality paper. It’s a frigging magazine page!

And with Glastonbury re-runs on the TV, it ticks the box.

Art and music therapy.
